Neck Pain Physiotherapy in Singapore
Neck pain can build up gradually from long hours at a screen or come on suddenly after an awkward movement or a poor night's sleep. At the Centre for Advanced Rehabilitation (CARe), our AHPC-registered physiotherapists and occupational therapists assess what is driving your neck pain and treat it with hands-on therapy, targeted exercise and practical changes to how you work and rest.
Neck pain physiotherapy at CARe
The Centre for Advanced Rehabilitation (CARe) is a Singapore rehabilitation clinic with two locations and a team of AHPC-registered physiotherapists and occupational therapists. We treat neck pain with an evidence-based, hands-on approach combined with personalised exercise. We do not perform surgery, injections or imaging — our focus is conservative, movement-based care that helps you understand your neck pain and work towards lasting improvement. Many of the people we see spend long hours at a desk, so practical advice about how you sit and work is often part of the plan.
How we approach neck pain
Assessment first
Every treatment plan starts with a thorough assessment. Your therapist will take your history, look at how your neck and upper back move, and identify the factors contributing to your pain — from posture and workstation habits to muscle strength, joint stiffness and sleep position. This shapes a plan built around your goals rather than a standard routine.
Manual therapy and sports massage
Hands-on techniques and sports massage are used to ease muscle tension through the neck, upper back and shoulders, improve joint mobility and support more comfortable head and neck movement.
Dry needling
Where appropriate, dry needling may be used to help release tight muscles around the neck and shoulder blades and to manage pain. Several therapists on our team are trained in dry needling, and it is always applied as part of a wider treatment plan.
Pain-relief modalities
CARe offers a range of physical agent modalities that can support pain relief, including therapeutic ultrasound, TENS and heat or cold therapy. Your therapist will recommend only what is suitable for your situation.
Posture, ergonomics and workstation advice
Because so much neck pain is linked to how we sit and work, your plan may include an ergonomics consultation — practical changes to screen height, chair setup and work habits, along with strategies for taking regular movement breaks.
Personalised exercise and strengthening
Exercise is central to recovering from neck pain and reducing the chance of it returning. Your therapist will design a personalised programme to improve mobility, strengthen the muscles that support your neck and upper back, and progress it as you improve.
What neck pain physiotherapy can help with
Treatment at CARe may help with a range of common neck pain presentations, including:
- General neck pain and stiffness
- Muscle strain and tension in the neck and upper back
- Postural and work-related neck pain from prolonged sitting or screen use
- Neck discomfort that disturbs sleep or makes turning the head difficult
- General chronic neck pain
If your neck pain follows an accident or fall, or is accompanied by numbness or weakness in your arms, dizziness, severe headache or problems with balance, please seek medical attention promptly.
What to expect at your appointment
At your first appointment, your therapist will assess your neck, discuss your symptoms and daily activities, and agree a treatment plan with you. Sessions typically combine hands-on treatment, any suitable pain-relief modalities and exercises you can build into your day. Your therapist will explain what they are doing and why, so you stay informed and in control of your care.
Home exercises and continuing your programme
Progress between sessions matters. Your therapist will give you a clear home exercise programme, along with advice on desk setup and daily habits, to continue your recovery and help maintain your results over time.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist for neck pain?
No referral is needed to book an appointment at CARe. If you have been referred by a doctor or have recent scans, bring them along — they help your therapist build a full picture at your first visit.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies from person to person and depends on how long you have had the pain, its severity, and how you respond to treatment. Your therapist will give you a clearer indication after your initial assessment, and will review the plan with you as you progress.
Can physiotherapy help with neck pain from working at a desk?
Desk-related neck pain is one of the most common presentations we see. Treatment usually combines hands-on therapy and exercise with practical changes to your workstation and work habits — our team can include an ergonomics consultation as part of your plan.
