Dr Sharon Wang
Senior Principal Physiotherapist
Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy

Dr Sharon Wang joins Centre for Advanced Rehabilitation (CARe) on 1 October 2026 as Senior Principal Physiotherapist, specialising in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy. She brings more than 15 years of clinical experience across public hospitals and private practice, and particularly enjoys working with active individuals, dancers and athletes.

Sharon graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiotherapy from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, before completing a Master of Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia. She subsequently obtained her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.

She began her career at Singapore General Hospital before moving to Sengkang General Hospital, where she developed extensive experience in musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries and post-operative rehabilitation. She has been practising in the private healthcare setting since 2020. During her time in the public sector, Sharon also worked with high-performance athletes, travelling with Singapore national teams to provide physiotherapy support at major sporting events including the SEA Games and Asian Games, and supporting the national artistic swimming team through their Olympic qualification campaign in 2020.

Alongside active individuals, dancers and athletes, Sharon works with people rehabilitating after procedures such as ACL reconstruction, cartilage surgery, rotator cuff repair and shoulder stabilisation surgery. Rehabilitation, in her view, is not simply a matter of returning someone to where they were before an injury: she builds her programmes around the goal of coming back better than before. She enjoys creating challenging and creative rehabilitation programmes that go beyond physical strength, considering movement quality, coordination, confidence and the psychological demands of returning to sport or performance, because she believes mindset is an essential part of helping people rebuild trust in their bodies after injury.

Sport and movement have always been a significant part of Sharon's life. A sporty child who enjoyed trying different activities, she played competitive basketball throughout her school years and later represented the Ministry of Health basketball team. She is trained in ballet and has explored diverse dance genres including hip hop, contemporary, jazz and ballroom, and more recently her own movement practice has shifted towards aerial arts, which she also teaches at a local dance studio. That versatility across sport and dance gives her a strong appreciation of the different physical, technical and performance demands placed on athletes and dancers, and her experience as both a physiotherapist and a movement instructor gives her a particular perspective on helping people return to complex movement with confidence.

Sharon is certified in GEMT Dry Needling Levels 1 to 3 and is an NLP Practitioner. Her professional development also includes training in Dance Movement Therapy with LASALLE College of the Arts, complementing her belief in the importance of body awareness, communication and mindset in rehabilitation. Her treatment philosophy centres on active rehabilitation, education and independence: rather than creating reliance on treatment, she aims to give patients the knowledge, physical capacity and confidence to eventually no longer need physiotherapy and to return fully to the activities they love.

Outside the clinic, Sharon enjoys dance, aerial arts and travelling, particularly when it brings her closer to nature and to new physical challenges. Scuba diving and snowboarding are longstanding passions that remain a regular part of her adventures, and horse riding is her newest.
