Amelia Stanley, Principal Physiotherapist specialising in dance medicine at CARe Singapore

Amelia Stanley is a principal physiotherapist at Centre for Advanced Rehabilitation (CARe), specialising in dance medicine and performing arts rehabilitation. As a trained dancer who remains actively engaged in the art, she combines her clinical expertise with a deep understanding of the physical demands of dance to help performers prevent injuries, recover effectively, and achieve their best performance.

Amelia obtained her undergraduate Honours degree in Physiotherapy from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, and went on to complete postgraduate studies in Physical Therapy, including a Graduate Certificate in Performing Arts Medicine from Shenandoah University, USA. She is a fully registered physiotherapist with experience across hospital, community, and private practice settings, spanning neuroscience, post-surgical, cardiorespiratory, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

Amelia serves as Chairperson for Dance in Asia with the International Association for Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS), where she supports the advancement of dancer health and education across the region. She has provided on-site physiotherapy for elite dancers and performers at prestigious institutions including The Royal Ballet, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Cirque du Soleil, and Singapore Dance Theatre, and regularly conducts dance injury prevention and rehabilitation workshops, equipping dancers with the knowledge and strategies to support long-term health and performance.

In her practice, Amelia draws on a range of evidence-based rehabilitation approaches and holds certifications in Dry Needling, Polestar Pilates Rehabilitation, GYROTONIC for Dancers, Progressing Ballet Technique, and BarreConcept. Her treatment philosophy centres on helping each patient move with confidence, recover fully, and return safely to the activities they love.

Beyond her clinical work, Amelia holds a Master's in Theological Studies, with a particular interest in the intersection of theology, medicine, and ethics, reflecting her commitment to compassionate, holistic patient care.

​
